Some things to remember...

This has been in my draft file for months and months... I just want to get it saved.
I wanted to save for our memory some pictures around our mission home, some of the people we have come to absolutely love, and some of our Pday adventures.

ok, I know we took a lot of pictures

of this guy, but honestly his markings were

stunning.  He was sunning on a rock on an 

island in the center of the pool, and Bob and I

were saying, gosh, How does he get over here?

Does he just swim right over??

When all of a sudden, he walked right off that

rock and slithered into the pool and swam to

the other side ...walked across the deck and 

up onto another rock to sun himself there.

We were giddy it was so fun to watch!

Fathers Day

We are so grateful to our assistants Elder Teichert and Elder Kotter for putting together this Father's Day video.  Once again, our missionaries have been sending in love notes and pictures and videoing a quick something to contribute to this project for several weeks.  We know these sweet expressions will touch your hearts.  Happy Fathers Day! We love you!

I Feel My Saviors Love

I love this song and wanted to add it to our family blog,

especially for our grandchildren to listen to.

I hope they will always feel the Saviors love for them.

Mother's Day

Happy Mothers Day!

Look what our two assistants have made for us!  They have been sneaking around for weeks collecting pictures from our missionaries, and from our children.  This afternoon, they had me sit down and surprised me with this precious video.  I love it!!!  I loved seeing the missionaries sweet notes to their mothers, and picture after picture of them with their moms.  I treasure this gift and hope you enjoy it as well!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day on Sunday.
I was so thrilled to be able to visit with each of our children and grandchildren throughout the day for awhile, and was also able to visit with my mom late Sunday evening and had a good visit with her.

We invited our 6 office Elders to our home for Sunday dinner and invited them to call their families from our homes.  Three Elders Skype called with their folks and talked at the same time.

We had a delicious Sunday dinner together.  Boy, we sure love these Elders and enjoyed our day with them.

We are almost ready to eat.  I was just slicing some strawberries and bananas up.

Throughout the day on Sunday, I also received texts and phone calls

from our missionaries wishing me a happy Mother's Day.

As we arrived for our interviews in Manzanillo on Tuesday,  these sweet Elders

presented me with this cute sign and a beautiful rose.

Thank you, thank you to all.  

Finally, as today (Wednesday) is Mother's Day in Mexico.

Mission President Seminar

We just returned from our April Mission President Seminar in Mexico City.
I did not take very many pictures at all, but we did walk around the Temple.  It was absolutely beautifully manicured and the flowers were so gorgeous.

Just a few things

I've wanted to post a picture or two of these gorgeous jacaranda trees, while they are still in bloom.  We spotted these on our drive out of Guadalajara this week.








President has befriended without question,
every single employee at our local oxxo gas station.
He calls them hermano and asks them each time 
he sees them if they have had the opportunity
to come to church.  He has gotten
to know them, asking them about their 
families and their day.  They each have 
collected all the pass along cards and 
pictures of the Savior that we have in
our car stash.   

                    It is dry. 

The ground is yearning for moisture.

The rain is coming, and this place is ready for it.

                We passed another truck, just packed full
                 of pigs off to the market.







  Another thing I have fallen in love
with here in Mexico, are the rock fences.
  They seem to go forever, marking 
boundaries, framing homes, dividing 
fields, lining up the hills and mountainsides,
    running along the side of the road.
    Sometimes, out in the middle 
of nowhere, we'll see these long, 
sometimes criss crossing rock walls.
Neatly stacked, definitely by hand, each
rock chosen to fit just so.  I love them.










Lastly, the Tequila plant
grown all over Mexico.
This rich, red field is in Arandas.








The tequila farmers use the core of the plant 
under the ground. They cut the top off, and 
use it for other things.  The core is baked, mashed, 
fermented and distilled.  (there you have it)
Here are the tops of some tequila plants,
stacked after the core was harvested.




We saw field after field of these tequila plants along the hills
as we drive to Tepic.  The fields look like patchwork quilts.
They cover the hillside and the farmers have them in neat
rows going all different directions.  They are a blue green color.
These pictures don't do them justice, because it is so dry.
