Our pday to Tapalpa 5-4-18

We have had a beautiful day today. We traveled to Tapalpa about 30 miles from Guzman. We have our last Guzman branch conference tomorrow and thought we would take the opportunity to visit this little Puebla up in the mountains along side of Sayula outside of Guzman.

It was a gorgeous drive, very, very dry, but at a certain place, about 5 miles from the little Puebla, it quite suddenly changed terrain and turned into pine trees with little shops, well kept farms with rustic fences, and in the distance we could see beautiful homes with orchards and cattle and barns and beautiful rock walls...it was getting so pretty.

We parked along a side street and walked around the little plaza and in and out of the little shops... and it was darling.  We found my mom a table runner, a cute little notebook a sling shot to hang in the door of the barn, bracelets for the girls and a beautiful scarf, a cute, cute whisk broom and a scrub brush, and dad found his 6 remaining scabbards for the machetes for the boys.

Early afternoon, it started raining and we found a bench on a covered patio and sat down for maybe 45 minutes and just watched it absolutely pour, and listened to the thunder and watched the lightening, and everybody scamper here and there to find cover and get where they were headed.
It was lovely.

We made our way during a break in the storm to a restaurant a store keeper recommended..
We had lunch on the veranda and it was very, very authentic... Bob loved it, but the food was a little much for me..
On our way out of the Puebla, we also found and rescued 2 old bricks in a pile of rubble.
We drove home and realized that although it had poured where we were high up in the mountains... down the mountain, and on the other side of the mountain, it had not rained at all, poor cows and farmers.
What a lovely day it was!

Colorful bougainvillea bushes

nails and broken glass as always, top the walls
for protection.

beautiful streets and verandas

and I love covered porches

Typical large basket filled with
baked goods being carried on
the vendor's head.

Plaza with the center attraction being
the huge Catholic church and statue
of this Puebla's favorite saint.
As we peeked inside the church, the entryway
and all the way down the center isle
was shockingly littered with confetti ...left
over from the previous wedding or celebration.

This young man and his wheelbarrow
full of homemade ice cream was doing
quite the business.

All kinds of bracelets to choose from.

beautiful shawls

and hats to try on.

The bench where we waited out the storm.

and those cobblestone streets.

This is the restaurant we ate our lunch at..
we were in the top right corner of
the veranda.

We loved this archway with the flowers
along one side.

And finally... we saw this guy

what a lovely pday we have had!
